It's CHRISTmas

Christmas is just a few days away.
I’m sure most of us are anxious of the presents that we are going to receive or ask from our parents. We would be fussing over what we will give to our monitas and monitos. Some might even rush to their godparents’ houses just to remind them of your gift. We are wondering what that fat and long-bearded man who always wear red had in mind for us. Our parents, godparents and friends are like Santa Claus to us, especially during Christmas time. We try to have a review of what we have done in the year, whether we’ve been naughty or nice. But wait…aren’t we missing something? Is December 25 our birthday? Do we really have to ask for presents just to feel the Christmas spirit? Do we really have be thrilled with the coming of Santa Claus?
Christmas is Jesus Christ’s birthday, not ours, nor Santa Claus’. Aren’t we supposed to give the spotlight to him? After all, we owe him a lot of things, especially our life. He is in fact the greatest gift we have received from god, not the material things that only makes us happy for awhile. These are the things that we can’t bring when we die. But we can bring Jesus’ love for us.
Isn’t it ironic how we give more importance to Santa Claus than Jesus in His own birthday? I find it a laughing things since we forgot that Christmas exists because of Jesus. We grew up making Christmas list and expecting to receive presents, which are definitely not the main point of Christmas. Christmas is a time for us to thank God for the blessing he had showered us for the year but more importantly, to thank him for sending us the best gift we could ever receive, His son, Jesus Christ, even if it meant sacrificing his own son’s life for our salvation.
So this Christmas, let’s not just think of Santa Claus or the presents we are about to open on Christmas Eve. Let’s take some time to ponder on the real essence of Christmas. Let’s give Baby Jesus the spotlight he deserves, after all, it is his special day.

Just Like the Old Times

Finally! Our High School Reunion pushed through. The whole St. Dominic is not present but majority of the class came. It just feels so good be around them again. I mean, I do enjoy the company of my college friends, but there's really that certain distinction that separates them. Joan, as always, pays for our food bill. It's like as if 3 years hadn't passed. And the photo addicts? They really haven't changed at all. I had a good laugh with them. Most of the time, we spent reminiscing our past years together and sometimes  we couldn't help but laugh at how immature and foolish we were back then. We chatted and ate and laughed and posed a lot for pictures. I just so love them. And I miss them so much.

Miss Grizelle 2011 and More

Last Wednesday, we celebrated our Christmas Party in our dormitory. As part of the event, some of our dorm mates came up with an idea to hold the first ever Miss Grizelle 2011 where 4 contestants represents the left and right wing of each floor. And my friend Donna was our contestant. Afterwards, we had our exchange gifts.
Isn't she pretty?
The contestants.

Dinner.

And of course...the killer trio!

Christmas Party ala Retrosci

Our block had a last minute decision of having a kris kringle. We didn't planned much. We just had our lunch at one of our favorite hangouts when we go together, Captain Dad's, after a stressful exam in 114. For  the exchange gifts portion, we had a twist. It was patterned after the Pinoy Henyo of Eat Bulaga. One person will seat in front and will try to guess her monita/monito. The rest of the group will give him/ her hints. It was just fun.

Rogelene on the hot seat. RetroSci suprised her by having her crush hand her gift.

Roland and Nadin having a good laugh.

Coz We are the BEST

 "Daug kami! Walk out kamu!"

That was our cry on that fateful night when the powers of the universe conspired to make us the Overall Best Batch for the College of Management’s 30th Foundation Year Celebration. Hoorah! We finally won. We are no longer the second rate trying hard batch. We are no longer in the shadows of our manangs and manongs. We WON!

The CM 30th Foundation Year Celebration was a 4 daylong event composing of events such as the sports, the play festival and modelling. We won overall for the non CMPF events. We won many awards for the play, but perhaps, the actual performance came up short (this is just my opinion). I wasn’t able to watch the plays though. For 2 years, we always ranked second, just next to the 5th years, for the play, but this year we were not included in the top 3. Oh well, that’s ok.

And for the modelling?! We won 3rd place!!! Yahoo! There’s actually some issue concerning the results. On the 1st announcement we weren’t included in the top3. Good thing the night wasn’t over when they realized they made some mistake. But the final results really hurt the ego of batch 2010 that were first called the champions, when in reality they’ve actually lost. That must have made them really upset for them to walk out, which I think is really rude.  Moving on with that issue, I’m just so happy that the efforts of our block paid off. This year we were assigned to the Modelling Committee, along with Greenade (who obviously was a NO SHOW). The designs were good. The theme was nice. I guess something’s wrong with the choreography (sorry) and the complicated design. The models were kinda lost. Perhaps it’s because they haven’t had a blocking in actual venue. Anyways, just in case I got low scores in my upcoming 114 exam, at least I can say that it was all worth it.

The other batches.
Our Star Models, Cleo and Osmond. Osmond won as the best male star model:)

The rest of the T9 models.

We all had a blast but Tyempo Nuebo were in really high spirits! This is our first time to win the overall  and definitely not the last time. GO T9!
